If artwork is supplied to us on disc, we accept Zip or CD. Please note, your disc will not be returned. Software Photoshop, Illustrator EPS, In-Design and Quark XPress are all suitable. Please ensure you correctly save the files and include all supporting files. In the majority of cases files created on a PC, saved as either an EPS or Tiff file from Photoshop will also work.
File type Photoshop EPS or Tiff files (flatten all layers) Illustrator EPS (outline fonts) In-Design (include all images & fonts) Quark (include all images & fonts) We can accept PDF's, but prefer not to. Unless you are experienced in the production of Prepress PDF's it is better to supply one of the above file types. Fonts will reproduce best if supplied in Quark or Illustrator (outline fonts) Images must be in CMYK (not RGB). If ordering cards, files for reverse of card must be in GREYSCALE unless you are ordering double sided colour. Images must be scanned in at the finished size + 1 mm on each edge if you want the image to bleed off the edge of the card. So for example, an A6 card with bleed would be 150 x 107mm Do not use any form of image compression (LZW, JPEG, etc) as they degrade final quality. Resolution A minimum resolution of 300 dpi, maximum of 400dpi at same size as finished size + 1mm if image is to bleed. Line art scans need to be a minimum of 800dpi, but 1200dpi maximum is best. Document Size For card orders, the image must be scanned in at the finished size + 1 mm on each edge if you want the image to bleed off. So for example, an A6 card with bleed would be 150 x 107. Exact finished size if you do not want bleed off. For stationery orders, you should again add 1mm bleed if any items extend to the edge of the paper. Logos, images and text must be kept within 5mm of the trim edge to avoid any unwanted cropping of the image, text or logo. This rule applies to the front and reverse of card. You may also find that if you have margins or borders closer to the edge than 5mm, that once cropped the card appears unbalanced as in the example below. | | Colour For card orders (A5, A6 and business) we use CMYK (four colour process). We can not guarantee to match any supplied print-out. It is therefore important that the supplied file is colour accurate. Generally bright or fluorescent colours - mainly reds, blues and greens - will appear less saturated when printed in four colour process, you will notice this when you convert the file to CMYK from RGB. Your home computer screen or printer will not replicate the four colour printing process. Please ensure all images supplied have been converted to CMYK. We cannot process RGB and we do not print spot colours. For stationery orders you can either print with one or two Pantone colours. These should be specified by the software you use to generate your artwork. Fonts We have a large selection of house fonts, but these may not match the font you have used. Enclose all fonts used (they need to be Mac based) including both screen & printer fonts. In the absence of the correct fonts Arial will be substituted. Whilst every attempt is made to use/match your font please be aware that some fonts differ on Mac & PC and slight font size variation can occur. Remember If you send us in a disc, please also remember to enclose a print-out of your order. This is for us to verify your file is not corrupt - we do not use it to verify you have correctly laid out your card or to match colour.
